We envision a vibrant, strongly supported ImagineIF Library that advances the well-being and prosperity of our residents and the community. 

Our vision for the future of the ImagineIF encompasses a Library that:

  • Is welcoming to everyone and heavily used
  • Continually improves as a top-notch library widely recognized across the community for its impact on individuals, families, schools, businesses, and organizations
  • Provides outstanding services and resources:
    • Offers a diverse array of free services and resources for all ages and backgrounds to meet the community’s informational, educational and cultural needs
    • Plays a leadership role in improving early childhood literacy and school readiness
    • Presents robust after-school and summer programs for our schoolchildren
    • Conducts strong outreach to schools and other local organizations to raise awareness and use of the library
    • Maintains a strong, inclusive collection of books, digital materials, and other materials
    • Actively works to increase access to all library materials and services
    • Provides up-to-date and innovative technology, digital materials, and Internet access
    • Is a place for all members of the community, and especially seniors and economically disadvantaged households to access technology and related assistance
    • Works with community partners to foster workforce development, skills training, access to job resources, and small business creation
    • Has up-to-date facilities that support robust services, including state-of-the-art areas for children and teens, technology and programming


  • Is well-managed and fiscally responsible:
    • Is a good steward of both public and private dollars
    • Has sufficient financial resources to provide meaningful services and resources that grow and match our expanding population
    • Successfully partners with the Foundation and Friends to increase private support and community involvement in library operations
    • Has sufficient, well-trained, professional staff, including an experienced director with a strong vision for the future
    • Offers regular professional development opportunities for staff
    • Uses volunteers - in appropriate areas - to support its professional work

 

  • Works with the community:
    • Supports strong community involvement in decision-making
    • Is fully transparent and open in all actions
    • Partners with local schools, businesses, non-profit organizations, and other government agencies

 

  • Exceeds local, state, and national standards for libraries:
    • Follows best practices for libraries and governmental agencies
    • Supports long-standing library standards for open access to information, materials, and resources that ensure the privacy of our users
    • Maintains positive connections to and works to support regional, state, and national library organizations
